Quirky period property

Pros: Beautiful period property with delightful owners James and Barbara. Very helpful manager Sandy Comfortable bed and great breakfast Walking distance to Tiny Grocery, Hyde Park Bar and Grill Short uber ride to downtown

Cons: Bedroom hot as I found ac too noisy to use at night ...but I am a light sleeper (i did use ear plugs too).

Pros: A very beautiful old house, decorated with a lot of effort and detail. The rooms are comfortable and the bed is great. Or we were just very tired :)

Cons: Unfortunately breakfast was at 9am and we had to leave earlier both days, so we didn't get a chance to try it. The coffee is great.

Pros: Nice place and Nice People. Sandy made a fantastic breakfast.

Cons: Would have been nice with a little cleaning, emptying the garbage cans... The hot tub was old, and when you looked into it, at least, we decided not to go in.

We felt like home

Pros: Host extremely friendly and gave us good recommendations what to visit in town. Room was small, but comfortable and cozy. Very good wifi-connection. House is nicely decorated in an old-fashioned style, atmosphere simple and feel-at-home. There is a big garden which we could use. Breakfast was excellent. Close to downtown and yet in a calm area, away from the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend.

A piece of Austin history

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Strickland. Sandy’s breakfast was lovely and the room was very quaint. The location is really convenient and quiet. The house was very British and we felt very at home.

Cons: The pool needed maintenance and some of the facilities need a freshen up

A brilliant place to stay with lots of novelty value .

Pros: The property was so quirky it was like stepping back in time . Everything we needed was thought of . We loved sitting around the table at breakfast with the other travellers . Loved the books full of the houses history that were available for us to read .

Southern hospitality at its best in historic surroundings!

Pros: We had a great stay at Strickland's. The house is a beautiful historic landmark in a very nice Austin neighborhood (Hyde Park), and the Stricklands did everything to make us feel at home, even having a mobile petting zoo on the day of our arrival (OK, I admit, it was for their granddaughter's birthday, but still great). Sandy's homemade biscuits for breakfast are a real treat. We'll be back the next time we travel to Austin!

Historic House with Old World Charm

Pros: When visiting the USA we like to stay in Historic Houses. We also had a great time at breakfast talking to other people staying at the property. Barb and the team were great fun. Hyde Park is an interesting area away from downtown Austin. Uber in to Austin is cheaper than parking and easier. Also visit Avenue b Grocery and market for excellent sandwiches. Easy walk to restaurants.
