Secluded Asian style garden hotel amidst restaurants

Pros: friendly personnel Location ( restaurants, and walkable to capitol 45 minutes and riverside ), secluded green garden, Small pool to cool down after a ‘walking day’ Nice nut and cheese snacks

Cons: Room 26 was rather bright at night due to floodlights of a parkinglot (?) at the back of our room. Room was basic for the price charged but quit, no noise from traffic

Pros: Fantastic location. Very cool vibe around the hotel. Neat bar/pool area. Great merch. Amazing minibar selection. Friendly staff. Overall an epic spot and I'd definitely stay again! The photos don't quite do it justice.

Cons: Payment system was slightly convoluted and annoying. Was meant to be pay on arrival for each of the guests (we had 4 rooms) yet a hold was placed on my card for 2 rooms I wasn't staying in. Slightly annoying and feel like this could be simplified by requiring payment from each room at check in.

Loved my stay and will stay again!

Pros: Loved it all. Especially the friendly front desk staff. Carol Ann was amazing!

Pros: Very calm and relaxed environment. Nice rooms and very nice hotel facilties. Very relaxing even though it is just off a very busy street in Austin. Extremely nice location in a great part of Austin wiyth lots of nice shops and restaurants.

Cons: - The bushes around the pool area and at the entrance of the rooms are full of nasty mosquitos. Within a few minutes I had severe bites that lasted for almost a week. Not sure which kind of mosquitos these were! - At the pool area some other guests had glasses and wine bottles and/or other alcohol even during the day, even though children were around. The hotel did not enforce their own policy of glass not being allowed at the pool area. - When cheicking out of the hotel they didn't want to show me the bill, they said they will email it later. When they emailed a day later they had wrongly put on the bill a food invoice from another guest. Why they didn't want to show me the bill on checkout I dont know, but errors like this could easily be avoided simply by showing the guest the bill upon checkout. They have now refunded the wrongly charged amount, but they haven't bothered correcting the invoice and I guess they never will. They probably tink it is not important to issue an accurate invoice. - During our 3 days stay we were asked to move rooms because our key got stuck in the lock of the first room and could not be removed from the lock anymore and the room would therefore remain unlocked overnight. They excuse we were given was 'the locks are very old'.

Pros: -The location was amazing. In the center of Soco. -The courtyard was beautiful. They have live bands sometimes, make sure to check. Great atmosphere -The staff was really nice and always helpful.

Cons: -the aera can get noisy and the rooms are not soundproof. Remember to take ear plugs. -had trouble to get hot water in my shower. (Might just be my room though)

Pros: I love the area of my room!!! I love the Beautiful garden and the peaceful seating are.

Cons: You can walk to restaurants! Shopping!!!

Hotel San José: A Charming Oasis with Prices That Break the Spell

Pros: Hotel San José feels like a tiny village hidden inside Austin, filled with laughter, warm light, and people who actually seem happy to be there. The lush plants, intimate paths, and small but inviting pool create a relaxed atmosphere that never feels forced or overdesigned. It’s the perfect blend of old-school Austin charm and easygoing comfort, and I can’t wait to return.

Cons: Hotel San José has a wonderful vibe, but the prices have drifted into territory that feels out of reach for what used to be a simple, charming stay. It is lovely enough that I still go occasionally, but I would visit far more often if the rates were even remotely reasonable. Like much of modern life, it now seems priced for a world where everyone needs millions just to enjoy what used to be middle-class comfort.

We will return.

Pros: Superbe endroit, très bien placé ! 👍👍 Personnel au top ! Petit coin magique ! Retour dans les 60's avec cet hôtel ! Du temps des hippies.. 😊

Cons: Eau de la piscine trop chaude. 🤠
